George Grosz

George Grosz was an important member of the Dada and German Expressionist movement, his caustic and satirical pen & ink drawings of Berlin life attacked both the bourgeois society and military heirachy of the period. He fled Germany in the early 1930's, and continued to paint and draw in his new homeland of America, until returning once again to Germany in 1950, where he once again discovered his previous acerbic and savage voice through the use of collage.

His work is to be found in many major museum collections worldwide
